This Latch is a great tool for childproofing. It can keep easily keep babies out of entire areas and certain rooms for sure. Adults can open the door from either side of the door. It’s a very simple device but works well and is not difficult to install. Only one screw is used as the anchor point. The round object in the photo is attached to the door frame with a screw. Pre-drilling is necessary before screwing it into place. There’s an optional wand which can be used to operate the device for people of shorter stature. The device does require some clearance between the door and the door frame to slide back and forth. If the door and frame are too tight a bit of sanding or material removal is necessary. An inexpensive rasp works well. Here’s an image and link so if you need one you know what it looks like. The cutting or scraping side is sort of like a kitchen grater. Sliding Closet Door Limiters

KidCo Bi-Fold Door Blocker (KidCO 2 Count Sliding Closet Door Lock) The device pictured has ‘3M’ adhesive as the installation process. Just peel and stick and it’s ready to go. This item can be applied easily and is available at this link. It seems to work well and is a great childproofing solution for interior closet doors. I’ve seen images on the internet of people using similar devices to childproof exterior or patio sliding doors. I wouldn’t recommend that because the door would be too heavy. Even a slight tug from a two-year-old would eventually cause the device to come off of the glass.  

Bi-Folding-Closet Door Limiter

device is very simple but works well. There is nothing to install. The device juts rests on top of the closet door. Just slide it across to the door junction to prevent the door from opening outward.

Security Door Bolt (Door Guardian Reinforced Security Lock for Household Doors) The device pictured is the Door Guardian by Cardinal. It has several design factors that make it not only a security upgrade for your home but makes the installation painless and efficient. It is finished off nicely and has good quality screws that are long enough to penetrate the door frame creating an extremely secure device. There are alternatives that are similar in design and may be found for a smaller price.  I’ve purchased both the Cardinal Brand as well as the (Baoweijd brand). Both brands are good quality with similar installation methods.  Both products are manufactured in China. 

Patio Door Guardian (Patio Guardian PDG01-W Patio Door Guardian Lock – White) Cardinal Gates makes a terrific door bolt  that fits most patio sliding doors. Installing it increases home security and adds to your childproofing process. The device allows the patio door to open four inches or all the way with a simple knob that is easy to operate.
